Happy Halloween!
We had a lot of fun with our little festivities. First was carving our pumpkin. Jacob and Rachel both colored faces onto paper pumpkins so we could "plan". Then we dug all the seeds out.

Jacob has never been a fan of carving pumpkins. He doesn't like scooping or waiting for me to cut the face. But he kept at it for a while this year. He kept asking why the seeds were stuck to the wall of the pumpkin.
Rachel LOVED carving the pumpkin. She kept trying to get her arm in anytime the hole was vacant. She liked it so much that she was still scooping even when all the seeds were out. Our face ended up being a "happy" face with triangle eyes, a circle nose and big toothy smile, per Jacob's request.
Then the kids helped make halloween sugar cookies. Jacob did a great job cutting out cookies. We ended up with a lot of train cookies. Rachel kept making a big mess (surprise surprise) so I relegated her to tasting the flour on the table, a task she was all too willing to fulfill. Frosting the cookies took a little longer (I think I was the only one frosting) and don't worry, Jacob never put that knife in his mouth back in the frosting cup!
Jacob requested his costume this year be Clifford, despite my best efforts to use that Curious George costume again. Rachel loves doggies too so we had a double doggie halloween. Rachel was technically "T-Bone", Clifford's best friend from the T.V. show but no one would know that except a kid. (or a mom)
When I put on their costumes they both dropped to all fours and barked down the hallway to show Daddy. Then they had to give their tails a good wag. That was one of the things Rachel liked best, having a tail. She checked to make sure Jacob had one too and mommy and daddy didn't.
We went trick-or-treating in our old neighborhood which was a lot of fun. Jacob wanted to knock on every door imaginable and on our way home, Rachel kept asking to go to another door. Then she tried every sucker in her pumpkin, wrapper and all. Looks like she gets to eat all of those herself! The kids had a lot of fun and holidays just keep getting better and better the more we have and the older they get. Maybe this motherhood thing isn't so bad after all.

Don't kids make everything (well, most things!) better?! It is so fun that they are getting old enough to really enjoy things. What cute puppies!

they are soooo cute! I love that Rachel checked to make sure only she and Jacob were blessed with tails to wag! Did you make these costumes, btw?
Very cute! So adorable. I saved a ton of money because I didn't buy one bag of candy. We weren't home so Halloween was missed at our house. Alex was Steve Young and he cruised the neighborhoods with his friends. I missed that too.
It was so good to see you guys! We miss having you as neighbors. Great costumes, as usual.
