Bus Ride

Early in dental school, Michael rode the city bus to school every day. When Jacob was old enough, we'd go on walks each evening and meet daddy at the bus stop. Jacob was always excited to see the bus come, stop and watch daddy get off. His facination with buses has never ended. They are the means to high adventure, he's sure. So, about a week ago, Michael took Jacob on the city bus to the mall to play on the toys. We didn't think Rachel would do so well on the bus so Rachel and I drove to the mall and met Jacob and Michael there.

First we walked Jacob to the bus stop. He had his little elephant umbrella because it looked like it might rain.

We waited for about 10 minutes for the bus to show up. Jacob amused himself by swinging circles around the bus stop sign and generally running amok.

The bus finally came. It had the right number and I snapped this picture just before Jacob turned around and waved a big "bye mommy!" wave.

Michael took these on the bus. Jacob had such a good time riding the bus! His anticipation level was off the charts!

He now pretends that his toy fire engine is a bus and he runs around the house stopping at strategically placed pillow bus stops asking if anyone would like to get on and go for a ride. Of course, sometimes the fire engine is a train too. As Michael's dad put it, Jacob likes anything that's BIG and MOVES. Yep. That's about right!
