Last week we visited the nation's capital with my brother, Craig, and his family. It was so fun! I've never been there so I really enjoyed seeing all of the sites in real life. We took a long walk around the national mall and one of our major stops was the WWII memorial.
Me and Michael and the kids and Janessa and their kids. The kids had a ton of fun. Maybe not being strapped in the stroller all day long, but getting to play together was exciting!
There were these cool reliefs that depicted life during the war. Many were of actual soldiers, getting drafted, in the pacific, parachuting,etc. I liked this one because it was of the homefront and reminded me of my grandma.
This reflecting pool was beautiful and really captured the spirit of the memorial.
One side of the memorial was dedicated to the war in Europe and the other to the war in the pacific. It was such a great way to honor our grandfathers and what they went through. These two pictures show places where my grandfather Gibson served.
There were pillars for each state of the union that soldiers represented. My grandfather Larsen was from Utah and Michael's grandfathers were from Idaho.
This monument was SO well done. Very beautiful, very calm and very honorable. My 3-year-old niece, Grace, said it best, "The soldiers died so that we can have a home and go to church and be free".

What a fun trip! How neat to see the memorials and really appreciate the freedoms we have and just way fun to be in the nation's capitol!
Great job on the WW2 Memorial... oh and yeah it is not as bad here as it was in DC.
